长治学院前身是创建于1958年的晋东南师范专科学校，2004年升格为综合性全日制普通本科高校，2019年获批成为硕士学位授予权立项建设单位。学校扎根太行红色沃土，始终坚持立德树人根本任务，弘扬“求真、求实、求善、求美”的校训精神，坚持应用型办学定位和特色化办学思路，培养出了“七一勋章”获得者、时代楷模黄文秀等一大批扎根基层的杰出优秀人才。

Changzhi University originated from Jindongnan Teachers College founded in 1958. It was upgraded to a comprehensive full-time ordinary undergraduate university in 2004 and approved as a master's degree authorization project construction unit in 2019. Rooted in the red fertile soil of Taihang, the university has always adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, carried forward the school motto spirit of "seeking truth, being practical, pursuing goodness and beauty", adhered to the application-oriented school-running orientation and characteristic school-running ideas, and cultivated a large number of outstanding talents rooted in the grass-roots level, such as Huang Wenxiu, the winner of the "July 1st Medal" and the model of the times.

学校现有两个校区，在校全日制普通本科生近12000人，生源遍及全国26个省（自治区）。设有15个教学院系，涵盖文学、理学、工学、法学、经济学、教育学、历史学、艺术学、管理学、医学等十个学科门类，共设置46个本科专业。拥有国家特色专业建设点1个、教育部综合改革试点专业1个，省级一流专业建设点7个，省级特色专业4个。

The university has two campuses, with nearly 12,000 full-time ordinary undergraduate students, whose student sources are from 26 provinces (autonomous regions) across the country. It has 15 teaching departments, covering ten disciplines including literature, science, engineering, law, economics, education, history, art, management and medicine, with a total of 46 undergraduate majors. It has 1 national characteristic specialty construction site, 1 comprehensive reform pilot specialty of the Ministry of Education, 7 provincial first-class specialty construction sites and 4 provincial characteristic specialties.

学校师资队伍结构合理，现有在编教职工793人，其中正高级职称教师52人，副高级职称教师229人，具有博士学位教师205人、硕士学位教师506人。建有山西省土壤微生物修复技术工程研究中心、太行文化生态研究院等科研平台，近年来承担国家自然科学基金、国家社会科学基金等项目16项，省级科研项目200余项，为区域经济社会发展提供了有力支撑。

The university has a reasonable structure of teaching staff, with 793 in-service faculty members, including 52 teachers with senior professional titles, 229 teachers with deputy senior professional titles, 205 teachers with doctoral degrees and 506 teachers with master's degrees. It has built scientific research platforms such as Shanxi Soil Microbial Remediation Technology Engineering Research Center and Taihang Cultural Ecology Research Institute. In recent years, it has undertaken 16 projects such as National Natural Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation, and more than 200 provincial scientific research projects, providing strong support for regional economic and social development.
