湖南环境生物职业技术学院溯源于1903年创办的修业学堂，历经百年发展，于2001年定名为现名，2004年原衡阳市卫生学校整体并入。学校秉承“乐山乐水 笃学笃行”办学理念，以环境科学、生物技术为特色，涵盖农林、医药、信息技术等多领域，是国家生态文明教育基地、全国职业教育先进单位、湖南省首批示范性高职院校。

Hunan University of Environment and Biology traces its roots to Xiuye School founded in 1903. After a century of development, it was renamed to its current name in 2001 and merged with the former Hengyang Health School in 2004. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "Appreciating Mountains and Waters, Studying and Practicing Earnestly", the university specializes in environmental science and biotechnology, covering agriculture, forestry, medicine, information technology and other fields. It is a National Ecological Civilization Education Base, an Advanced Unit of National Vocational Education, and one of Hunan's first batch of demonstration higher vocational colleges.

学校现有北、南两个校区，开设园林技术、环境工程、临床医学、生物制药等50余个专科专业，拥有国家级教学团队、中央财政支持重点专业及省级一流特色专业群。先后荣获全国绿化模范单位、全国乡村振兴人才培养优质校等称号，为区域生态环保和健康产业培养了大批高素质技术技能人才。

The university has two campuses (North and South) and offers over 50 specialized programs including Garden Technology, Environmental Engineering, Clinical Medicine, and Biopharmaceutics. It boasts national-level teaching teams, key majors supported by central finance, and provincial first-class characteristic professional groups. It has been awarded titles such as National Model Unit for Afforestation and National Quality School for Rural Revitalization Talent Cultivation, cultivating a large number of high-quality technical talents for regional ecological environmental protection and health industries.
