Founded in 1930, formerly known as Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, it is a leading institution in metallurgical education and research in Russia. Focusing on engineering and materials science, the university offers various majors such as metal, inorganic materials, organic materials, biomaterials, and polymer materials. It is one of the world's most important materials science research centers, with 4 national gazelle projects, 31 national key laboratories, and 6 national engineering centers.
