Shiraz University, founded in 1946, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in Shiraz, Fars Province, Iran. As one of Iran's major universities, it consistently ranks among the top five universities in the country. Formerly known as Pahlavi University, it was developed into the first institution in the Middle East to adopt an American-style higher education model with assistance from the University of Pennsylvania.
